Ok.  So you are ready to build your wood storage shed.  Are you ready for the next step – selecting the right wood storage shed plans?  This is the crucial step.  If you are building the shed yourself because cost is a concern, then this requires some thought.  The question now is – with cost playing a big role in the project – should you look for free plans or spend money to buy them?  This is a very important decision because the answer could very well make or break your project.

Ask anyone who has built a shed (or a bunk bed, a model or anything else requiring instructions) and they will tell you that a good set of plans was critical to having a successful project.  They will probably also tell you that you get what you pay for.  Please keep this in mind when choosing the source of your wood storage shed plans.  Not all plans are created equal.

**In an earlier post I laid out what makes for a good set of shed plans.  Please take a moment to check it out so you can be sure you are looking for the right plans for your project.**

At first glance downloading a free set of wood shed plans seems like a no-brainer.  You need plans and you can find a set for $0.00, so you can save money, too.  Note: few things in this world are no-brainers (or are “free”).  What looks like an easy decision is less clear after thinking about it for a little bit.

Many times the free plans you get will be hard to read, which certainly does not help you figure anything out if something is unclear.

Free shed plans are frequently missing the all-so-important Materials List.  It is impossible to build a shed if you do not know how much material you will need.  Unless you are an old pro at shed building, figuring out how much of everything you will need is beyond difficult.

Another big problem with free plans is that there are no tips for cutting your wood that will help minimize the amount of scrap you have at the end.

If you even finish your shed project while using free plans, you are likely to find that you have enough scrap material left to build a rather nice dog house.  Unless you have a dog and are planning to upgrade his accommodations, this scrap is going to represent a significant amount of money.  This is certain to be more money than it would have cost to buy quality shed plans.  One visit to the lumber yard or local DIY store will give you an idea of what kind of money we are talking about here.

On the flip side, not buying enough material is also a problem.  Rather than being able to get everything ready and set aside to use as needed, you have to take time out to drive back and forth to buy additional material.  This only drags out the project and creates a lot of frustration.

Your project does not have to be so difficult, but you will need a good set of wood shed plans in order to make it easier.  To get instant access to hundreds of high-quality shed plans for one low price, simply Click Here.

By starting your shed project without the proper set of wood storage shed plans, there is a good chance that you will ultimately abandon the project and waste money on a lesser-quality pre-built shed (and probably made of plastic).  Free shed plans may save you some money initially, but they will lead to you spending more in the long run. Buying a good set of shed plans is a small investment with a big return.

Until next time…

PS - You probably noticed that there is a link to a set of free shed plans on this page.  This is not meant to confuse you.  The free plans here are a set of plans available as part of a larger package of plans.  These are simply an example of the plans that you can gain instant access to today.   When you purchase this product, you know that the plans you use for your particular shed design are going to be high-quality and help you successfully complete your project.
