One of the great things about wood storage sheds is that with some small modifications to the plans, you can create a structure to serve any number of functions. Sure, having a wood shed to store tools is a terrific application, but are you aware of what else you can do with your shed? Let’s take a quick look…
Potting Shed – create a workspace so you can work on your plants in a comfortable setting. Take your standard wood shed plans and build a counter or table so you have a place to do your potting. With the option to build your wood potting shed just about anywhere, you can be close to the action. This way when you finish your work you can just step outside to plant them in the ground.
Garden Shed – a wooden garden shed is basically a hybrid of a wood storage shed and a wood potting shed. Here you have space dedicated to storing your gardening tools and space set aside to work on your plants.
Pool Shed – pools require all sorts of extra items; toys for the kids, floating chairs for the adults, chemicals and other maintenance items, and if you want to keep your house dry, a changing area.
Kids Playhouse – need a place for your kids or grandkids to play outside? A wood playhouse is a great addition to your yard and it will help you maintain your sanity

Home Office – this is not necessarily the most common extra use for wood storage sheds, but it can be a great way to provide the work space and separation needed for those who work at home. Certainly there will be some extra work to make it comfortable enough to use year-round, but with the right planning it can be done (and for a lot less than putting an addition on your house or moving to a larger home).
Simple wood storage sheds can be so much more than many people initially realize. By taking basic wood shed plans and making some slight changes, you can create a structure that can be used however you need to use it (try doing that with a metal or plastic shed). A little bit of forethought on the intended use, some imagination about how to do it and the proper planning will lead to a wood structure that will serve your needs and last a long time.
